Week 27

What is your favorite eggplant dish?

So, week 27, 90 days left! Crazy!!

Andrew and I flew to Houston over the Labor Day weekend. We left late Thursday evening and arrived at 12 am Friday morning. We enjoyed listening to one of Agatha Christie's Poirot on the 2 hr drive and 3 hour flight there. We had a great time in Houston. It had been 1 .5 years since we had been back to H-town. Not too much has changed. My grandparents drove from Branson, MO for a surprise visit. (The surprise was for Abby and I, my parents, of course, knew they were coming.) We ate some really yummy food, caught up with family and friends, had a baby shower, (Andrew) played disc golf, went shopping and relaxed. IT WAS PERFECT. It was our last little vacation before the baby arrives. We did not really see any affect from hurricane Gustav. It was hot and humid for most of the time we were there, with some cloud cover on Monday when we were getting ready to leave.

We felt(and still feel) very blessed by all of our friends and family that were at the baby shower. We received so many adorable outfits, blankets, toys and necessities for our little one. I spent the morning unpacking our huge suitcase filled with gifts. I have set things up in the baby's room, started hanging up the baby clothes and put the crib bedding on the crib. I definitely feel more prepared and ready. Thank you everyone for you generosity!!

The highlights from the weekend were:

Friday- spending time with the family, first mom and dad, and then grama and grandpa showed up and then Abby and Travis showed up. A good day!

Saturday- The baby shower. It was more than wonderful to catch up with so many people!

-Of course, coffee with Sam and Alexis at our old hole in the wall "hang out".....Starbucks! Over the last 10 years(since we all got our driver's license) we've had a lot of fun and great conversations at that Starbucks. I am glad that we were able to add another to the list of the life events talked about over coffee.

Sunday- Ribs for lunch and snow cones in the afternoon. Yummy yum...Strawberries and cream!

Monday- It was a sleepy day, filled with food from Kyle and Jenn's place: Main Street Grill and Cafe, packing and heading home.

We had one little problem when we arrived in PHX. Our car had a flat tire! Fortunately, the courtesy patrol filled our tire up for free and we were on our way. We walked into our house as our clock was ringing 1 am. Needless to say we are pretty tired this morning.

Thanks, mom and dad, for making our trip so enjoyable and a ton of fun. We really had a great time! Wish we could have stayed longer!

Below are pictures from our 4 day weekend:
