Week 24... Still a Papaya

Week 24....

If you divide 24 weeks along by 4 weeks in a month(although it isn't exactly 4 weeks per month, more like 4 weeks plus 1 or 2 days) then I guess I am on month 6. But the baby website still says month 5. So stay tuned for next week's revelation of the new fruit or vegetable.

There isn't any new news from the last time I posted. I don't want to go too long in between posts as I am afraid I will lose all my readers! I must not let that happen.

On non baby news, our townhouse has been getting a face lift via the HOA. New trim was added. The entire exterior was pressure washed and today they started a fresh coat of paint. It will look really nice once it is all completed. I will be happy to put on my potted plants back at the front entry way. I miss their cheery greetings when I get home each day. It will also be nice to not have hammers, saws, ladders and hoses making noise at 7.30 in the am.

I will try to post some new pictures this week. If not this week at least by next Tuesday for the official unveiling of the new veggie/fruit. I also have my next Dr.'s appointment next Tuesday as well. Also, just for a "how big am I" update, most of my clothes still fit. The jeans were put away a while ago. More recently a few of my natural waisted skirts were moved to another closet. I have been living in a some really comfy yoga-ish style capris in a larger size, the green Old Navy skirt that is in most of my pictures, and a few other flowey skirts and dresses. All my shirts still fit, which is nice. I do have 2 pairs of maternity pants that I wear at times, when it is cool enough to wear pants.

Oh and according to my dad, I am not a hippie because I have a job and own a house. Thanks, Dad. I have determined that the phrase "green" is the new hippie. I don't mind being called either. The fact that we recycle, turn off lights when we aren't using them, plan on cloth diapering and making our own baby food, ride bikes to work (Andrew only), eat cage free eggs and no hormones added chicken and milk, buy fair trade coffee and take our own bags to the grocery store might make us a semi-crunchy, granola household, but there are a lot more hardcore crunchy people here in Flagstaff that might scoff at out meager attempts. Oh well, we do what we can with what we have.

In honor of having Paul McCartney randomly show up in Flagstaff (Andrew's boss' brother saw him at a Thai restaurant in town. He wouldn't allow any pictures, but talked with the guy for a bit), this week's trivia question has to do with Sir Paul:
What was the name of the first band John Lennon invited Paul to join?

I'm not guessing on the question but I am commenting on your granola-ish/greenish lifestyle. You'd fit right in in Oregon! We're a Bicycle City USA because of all the bike lanes, and almost everyone takes their own bags to the store and buys local since so many yummy things are here at our farmer's market and co-op. Oh, and do you guys have "green" energy? 50% of our energy bill is. Beat that! :)

okay, so here is my question: I only believe in being called "green" if you believe in the "greenhouse affect." If you are just trying to be earth-friendly and responsible citizens, I don't think you qualify as green. Shawn and I had this discussion yesterday, as he was trying to call me "green," and I said I was just trying to be smart....not endorse Al Gore.

again..where did this question come from?

and yay for dad getting on the score-board!!

oh and to the littles: very interesting point..i like it lol especially considering that Al Gore is one of the least "green" people EVER..unless you consider him just raking in money hand over fist to be "green". then again, maybe he learned to twist definitions from bill clinton hehe!! (i'm assuming you have seen the report comparing his house to George W.'s?- if not..definitely check it out!)

Yeah dad, 5 million points to you.
Abby, what question are you talking about? The Beatles questions? And Katie, you never really asked a question. I don't really see any issue with the word "Green". It is a buzz word and I don't think it is synonomous with Al Gore or the greenhouse affect. Those two words have not even come up in conversations. We feel we have a responsiblity to be good stewards of what God has given us in all arenas of life. So that includes how we spend our money, what we spend our money on, what/how much we dispose of..etc. Andrew and I realy don't view our decisions as a political or trendy thing, we just view it as trying to be wise with what God has given us. And the little things that we can do on our end, might make a difference on a larger scale.
And Claire, I don't think we have "green" energy, but we do have a wood stove that we plan on using in the winter instead of turning on the heat....does that count. And I wish we had all the yummy produce at the Farmer's Market that you guys have.

abby- i havent ever looked up al gore vs george W, but I'm going to right now!
Meg- very true, I didnt ever ask a question, but you answered the one I had! I suppose the term "green" only has a negative association here in our little community? Anyways- I agree with what yall do and try to do the same, you described my point better than I did.
Claire- Hi! and, I also wish I could ride my bike to the farmers market....we do go to the farmers market in alvin, but that would be WAY too far to bike to.

Whew!
