A week ago Monday, I heard Emaline crying after nap time. She does this every now and then when she hasn't napped very well, so I thought this was normal. I walked in and she was crying in bed with her arm covering her face....this is normal too....it's her sad, pouting tactic. BUT when I sat down next to her and asked what was wrong, she moved her arm and boy did I get my answer. The pictures below aren't even a fraction of what it looked like. I scooped her up and took her to the living room so I could call Andrew, who came home to take a look at it. She was screaming/crying pretty hard, partly because of the wound and partly because I was wanting to look at it/put ice on it....she didn't like me even thinking about touching it.
What we think happened, as best as Emmy could tell us, was that she was playing with the curtain and the tension rod sprang out and popped her. It is healing pretty well. The bruising is gone, but there is still a pretty big knot at the top of her cheek bone.
But overall, she is fine. She got over the initial accident and has learned, the hard way, not to play with curtains. It was a very hard day for everyone. I don't think my adrenaline came down until the next morning.
This was a few days after the accident....most of the swelling had gone away and it was turning all sorts of colors.
Emaline's newest trend is High Heels. She does love her princess heels, but lately she has been digging in my closet to find the perfect pair....
She actually walks pretty well in them....granted her small little feet only fill the toe portion of the shoes, but she click-clacks her way around the house no problem.
These last two pictures are two of my favorites:
My sweet little lady, full of hugs, cuddles and smiles..
And my independent little rock star diva who does her own thing.

It makes me sad to see the black eye on my girl. Any new pics from out west? Birthday? Love you.
