Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.
Well, we didn't summit Mt. Humphrey's. We decided to wait till next summer for such a big adventure. Plus we would have been caught in the monsoon which would not have been good. We did go on a 5.5 mile hike in a small little canyon. Pictures will be posted soon.
We also primed over most of the hideous blue in the babies room. The previous owner left some white primer that we wanted to use before it went bad, so we tackled 3/4 of the room before we ran out of primer. The room is still a little blue, but I feel that it glows a bit less.
I have been knitting lately. My obsession this summer has been reading(I have been finishing books in about 3-4 days) and knitting. I didn't have a book lined up after I finished what I had been reading so I went to the library to get some knitting pattern books. I have made a pair of booties and am currently working on the EASIEST baby blanket. I am close to being halfway done with the blanket. I started the project on Sunday and hope to complete it by this upcoming Sunday. I will also post pictures of the completed blanket.
We are all in good health over here. Andrew's been playing disc golf of course. I actually joined him for a short round last weekend and even played a full round with 2 other girls. I really just enjoy being outside, that's really why I play. We live near a really nice park and take walks there after dinner sometimes. Or we walk around the neighborhood....our neighbors have beautiful gardens which I love to look at and steal ideas from.
I think that is all the new news! Hope you are all having a great day! Keep on the lookout for pictures!
