Here is a little update on what Emaline is doing these days;
* Talking A TON! She kind of talks like a person who is learning English as a second language. It's really cute. Instead of saying the orange triangle, it's triangle orange. She gets verb tenses wrong or just omits them. I tutored English for a brief time and Emmy's English would be what we called "survival", just enough to get the point across. A while back, we were in the car and Emaline was trying to tell us something. We had NO CLUE what she was saying. I kept asking her to repeat herself and all she did was just say the words louder and louder....much like we all do in a foreign country when we are frustrated that we can't communicate. HOWEVER, she also speaks very plainly at times. Last week, she walked over to Andrew who was syncing his iPod and said, "You don't need that, I need that." She also often wakes up and asks to "Play toys?"
* Reading. She still LOVES LOVES LOVES to read. This week has been difficult in that arena since being sick, I don't have much of a voice. the neat part was that when Emaline brought me a book, I asked her to read it to me. And she did! I would turn the page and, if the book was small enough she would "read" it almost verbatim, or if it was a longer book, she would just tell me the main event on the page (like in the if you give a cat a cupcake book, when he got the cupcake, she would cupcake, or sprinkles....you get the idea). I was impressed that she could tell me what was happening.
* Exerting her own ability. By that I mean, her new favorite phrase is "Emmy do it self". She at least wants to attempt to everything on her own. She might try for a while and then say "Mama/Papa do it self", but we at least let her give it a go until she asks for help.
* Big girl bed/room. Emaline has officially moved into her big girl room as of a week and a half ago. SHE LOVES IT!!!!! It was an easy transition, no protests or getting up in the middle of the night. She does need more practice with staying in bed when she wakes up from her nap, but it isn't a an issue I am really pressing right now with being sick. She usually just ends up playing quietly until I come get her. She is so proud to be in her big girl room. When we tell her it is nap/bed time she lights up and runs upstairs squealing "BIG GIRL ROOM".
**My update**
I am still sick. Day 8. Thought I might be on the mend, but after not being able to sleep last night, I woke up with more sinus pressure, an earache and more coughing. Something is definitely going around. I have heard of a few other people that have similar symptoms. But I am thankful for friends here in town who watched Emmy while I went to the Dr, other friends who have brought us some meals and the calls, well wishes and prayers. Keep the prayers coming!!! It is hard to be sick with a very active toddler, being pregnant, a husband working 40 + hours AND going to seminary. Andrew has been amazing at taking on his beyond full work load and then adding mine to it, plus taking care of a sick wife.

I love the updates on Emmy. What a little precious dolly. She's becomning her own little person. I'm glad the big girl room is going well. I'm sure I could use all the tips you have come another year or so. You haven't thought about the 'fun' potty trianing yet have you? I know it depends on the kiddo but don't know when I should start thinking about Lil - I know I have some time. I am so sorry you are still sick. Still praying for you.
