Baby's Room Inspiration/Idea Board

I wanted to share some ideas of what I am planning to do for the baby's room. When we were getting the room ready for Emmy, I wanted the bones of the room to be gender neutral so that it would be able to shift to the next baby, whether boy or girl. Kind of like how they say about your wardrobe. Invest in the standard pieces and then find inexpensive ways accessorize with the items that are trendy.
The room is painted brown and cream and below is our bedding we got with Emaline. So those are the "bones" of the room if you will.

Now here is where I want to take the room. So the feel of the room will be vintage travel. Which in trying to get inspiration online is rough. But I did find this blog that had a few pictures.

The idea really came from my mom when she thought of the idea of hanging globes where the flower pomanders now hang.

Kind of like this room found at Design Dazzle
Which ended up being a harder idea to put into action. Globes are expensive and hard to find, especially in the colors and sizes that I was wanting. I was going to scrap the idea and just go a different route, but then I found some at a thrift store and World Market.
Art Deco Style 8" Terrestrial Globe
Globe w/ wooden stand
(these aren't the actual globes, nor the exact colors, but they are close)

So with the globes, I will be adding different shades of blue and brown/tan to the room. I also plan to swap out the pink lampshades. One will be navy and the other I took from another room(just plain white) that I will put vintage luggage stickers on.
For the night stand and extra storage there will be stacked luggage.

Which I have already found the base and middle suitcase at 2 different thrift stores for a total of $10.
There are a few other items that I am keeping my eyes out for(or something that will offer a similar feeling/ambiance), just to add some nice finishing touches, but I will most likely just have to be on the look out to find a good deal:
Polaroid Land Camera

Antique Field Glasses or Binoculars

So that is just a taste of what is on the board. I'll keep a few things under wraps to make the "Big Reveal" a bigger surprise. We'll see how it all comes together. It will be a fun challenge to take on, especially keeping it as low of cost as possible...ha really low cost.:-)

And I will get pictures of Emmy's new room up, once we hang the pomanders...which will be later this month. Until then, enjoy this video of Emmy singing a song that Andrew made up a few months ago. She added her own accompaniment all on her own.

Love it! I'm so glad you found some globes that will work! I can't wait to see the finished product :)
