More of San Diego: Beach Day

Day 2 of our trip: Mission Beach. Emaline woke up early that morning so we were at the beach by 9. It was a bit chilly so Emmy and I stayed on the beach, while Andrew took a few dips in the ice cold water. Emaline did NOT like the water at all! She was very afraid of the waves coming up on shore and would run away if they got too close. To be honest, so did her mama. TOO COLD!!!! But we did get some nice sun and eventually warmed up....right around the time Emaline was ready for a nap.
One of our friends from Indianapolis lives in San Diego and met up with us for a little bit. She brought her 9 month old daughter, Elizabeth. The two girls played very nicely together.
She was enthralled by the concept of sand castles. She wasn't too sure about actually touching the sand, but she made sure that we filled the bucket, patted it down and then flopped it over to reveal the little mound of sand. She would clap when the bucket was removed to reveal the castle. She also tried to eat sand and a seashell.

She was also very happy that the beach had orange cones.

First time at the beach, first time in the ocean.
