WEEK 33- My Honeydew List is quite long!!!

Baby’s senses are continuing to improve -- when light peeks in through your (extremely) stretched belly, those tiny eyelids and irises blink and dilate. And, baby can now recognize and react to simple songs… time to start practicing your lullabies! Growth (at least inside your womb) is starting to slow, and you may notice baby descend into your pelvis at the end of this month.

So, new month, new veggie: The Honeydew Melon!!!! As you can see on my ticker at the top of this blog only 48 more days!!! YEAH! We are super excited. I had a doctors appointment yesterday. Nothing new to report other than I am right on target and the baby is growing just as she ought to. My next appointment is on the 28Th and then I start going to the doctor weekly.

To quote Penny Lane: "It's ALL happening!"

I get asked "How are you feeling?" quite a bit lately. I thought I would answer that question here on the blog. Physically, I am feeling pretty good. I'm not sick at all, not exhausted like the first trimester (but I do tire much faster), no food aversions or cravings, nothing like that at all. My back tends to hurt more often, my feet hurt when I stand on them for long periods of time (long= doing the dishes) and the comfort level of sleep depends on the night. On the preparedness aspect of the "how are you doing?" question, I am feeling pretty good as well. They say that pregnant women nest, but I think every woman nests regardless of status or state of being. I am in the cleaning phase of "nesting". Clutter bugs me (but always has), I want to have the guest room and office in order and I am intensely aware that my fridge needs to be cleaned out, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I still have a list of To-do's that I want to get done before the baby arrives. These are the immediate things that I am trying to get done within the next week and a half: *Make birth announcements (currently working on this project); * Make baby wipes; * Buy and install car seat; * Clean fridge; *Pack hospital bag; * Get any other items that we still need. Once those are completed, I have another list for the next weeks after that....just small goals with short time frames. And of course, Andrew and I are preparing for what life will look like once the baby arrives. We have our notions, but are remaining flexible to adjust those notions once reality presents itself. We are prepared as we can be understanding that we have never been parents before and will take things as they come.

I also thought I would share my analogies for what it feels like to feel the baby move. I try to explain it to Andrew and this is the best I came up with. No making fun! For the earlier stages of movement, imagine that you have a mouth full of water and there is a goldfish swimming around in your mouth and it keeps bumping into your cheeks. Not that I have ever had that happen, but again, use your imagination. If you try it, let me know how that goes and what it actually feels like. For this current stage of movement, it feels somewhat the same to being at the movies or on a plane and someone keeps bumping/kneeing the back of your chair.

Oh and I forgot to mention in the last post, that we had a shower on October 4th. It was a lot of fun. Becky made some of the yummiest foods....I wish I could have eaten every last bite! We played a little game where everyone had to guess how big around I was. I was WAY WAY off and could have looped the string around my belly a few times. But Aude cut the EXACT length and mom was only like 1/2 inch off. I thought that was pretty amazing. We got some very cute and lovely gifts. I forgot to take pictures of it all before I put it all away. Sorry.

Well, it's time for trivia: What movie is my Penny Lane quote from? 4 million points! Also, 2 million points for the best pun with the word Honeydew...the one that makes me laugh out loud wins.

wow..this has post has been up for 12 whole hours and not ONE bid for the pun contest? i'm surprised! haha

and by the way..kudos for the long post! i think this was your longest ever..i kept thinking: will it ever end? :P JUST KIDDING

so i won't bid for the trivia question: you can pick your jaw up off the ground now, i don't want to be too much of a monger..even a greedy one like me can have a reformed day or two every now again.
(translation: i'm being lazy and not using the google lol)

and as a by-the-way..a on-the-spot is quite the demand and hard to "dew" hehe..but in all seriousness:

what did the Honey "dew" when she was concerned about her sun spots?

she went to the doctor to see if it was Melon-oma!

haha..ok so i did completely make that up all on my own and spent most of today mulling it over. and when i got an audible groan and an eye-roll from travis and saw him glancing around for a pillow to throw at me..i knew i had perfected it!

:D

Almost Famous?

I'm not the punniest girl, so I'm not even going to take a stab at that.

Here's Nate's honeydew pun. He thinks he's pretty cool.

How do you know when a book is due at the library?

Look at the honeydew slip.

What a nerd!

I'd also like to point out that the word verification line has a handicap sign after it. What does that mean?

Hi Mrs. G! I don't think i know you but i wanted to tell you not to be Melon-choly about not seeming to be punny. I believe everyone has it in them..or if you are like my husband then it is buried way way waaaaay down!

but i will give him kudos- he made a really nice pun today. he's slowly coming over to the dark side *snif* and i couldn't be prouder! :P
